Final Fantasy XV: Ambitious visions by Hajime Tabata
Last year, Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV, mentioned a couple of times that he is interested in releasing a PC version of the game. But he wants it to be “more technically developed”. He estimated that it would take at least a year to do so. It can’t be said for sure that a PC version would come. But then again, he stated that he is eager to develop it for the PC in an interview with Weekly Famitsu. It was then shared on Gematsu revolving also around the digital sales as well as the satisfaction of the players.
In the interview, Tabata said: “I’d like to release the game on PC as a technical attempt. I want to show PC users Final Fantasy XV running on high-end machines, and we personally would like to see it, too. Also, I would like to try developing on PC to pursue a unique way of playing with PC-exclusive features like making your own quests and enjoying the world using things like mods.”
Concerning the virtual reality version of the game
In regards to virtual reality, he has the vision of freely travelling the world by car. But as far as the game is right now, it would take tremendous efforts to debug the game. The developers have to overcome some very high hurdles. So, for now, it is rather impractical to implement this. But the vision is there to make it entirely open-world and even to add new areas. But as far as it goes, creating new areas would take more than a year according to Tabata. Therefore, it isn’t part of their plans for now.
As far as we can see this, Tabata has some very ambitious visions. We can only hope that he will pursue them till the very end. Hope for the sake of all Final Fantasy-Fans. And wish that the longing of the PC gamers finally comes true.
