Ikariam is a free-to-play web & mobile strategy game created by GameForge. The Greek island culture inspires the setting of the game. Players begin their game with an already populated island, and the primary goal is to make a name in this vast world.
Ikariam features many standard browser-based game features like researching techs, acquiring resources, creating an army, and managing their city. The progress in the game is real-time, giving the urge to protect and manage the cities well.
The fundamental functions will be explained through a tutorial. Afterwards, it is up to the player to find out the small things that will help him to keep the upper hand compared to other players. Those are things like the customisable resource management. Players can allocate their citizens to different professions making it possible to focus different resources when they are needed.
The games progress rather slow at the beginning without offering huge rewards or time boosts. But it compensates this with a large content as well as many upgrades and fields. It all comes in a joyful, nicely coloured graphic, which isn’t often found in strategy games.
