Nintendo confirmed the pre-order of the SNES Classic and promised a lot more of them after the launch
Nintendo confirmed on Facebook that some stores will offer pre-orders for SNES Classic later this month. After Walmart accidentally started the pre-order on a Friday night, Nintendo decided to make this announcement. Customers ordered them like crazy just to get their order cancelled again later.
Senior director for customer care at Walmart Deserie Dulaney said about this:
“Unfortunately, due to a technical glitch, the Super Nintendo Classic Edition was mistakenly made available last Friday evening ahead of the official release date. We, regrettably, will have to cancel this item on your order. We know that this is incredibly disappointing to you, and we’re truly sorry for this mistake.”
Some stores like Target already confirmed that they will offer pre-orders. Amazon will most likely offer the pre-order too. But it won’t stop there. Nintendo promised already that they will provide significantly more systems at the launch of the console. They learned from the previous wave of demand regarding the NES Classic. Despite this, only a limited amount of people will be able to buy a SNES Classic.
The launch of the console will be September 29. Each store has yet to confirm an exact date for the pre-order. If we receive any more news about this, we will provide it to you as soon as possible.
